About Product Scope

Product Scope is a product-led consultancy. I help organisations fix, modernise and deliver the digital products and workflows they rely on every day.

From roadmap to release, I bring structure to complex systems through hands-on delivery, whether that means modernising an existing platform, redesigning a workflow, connecting systems, introducing automation or testing a new idea through a working prototype.

I'm David Lortal, a Product Manager with more than 15 years of experience across digital products and operational systems. I set up Product Scope Ltd in 2022 as a UK-registered consultancy, building on long-term product roles with organisations including BAFTA and FOCAL International.

Product Scope is remote-first, collaborative and deliberately lean. I stay close to the work from discovery and stakeholder alignment through to requirements, implementation, testing and rollout, working directly with development teams and bringing in specialist capability where a project needs it.

Selected Project Highlights

Below is a selection of major product milestones, platform launches and redesigns I've led over the past fifteen years, spanning new systems, complex workflow changes and the continued evolution of established products.

These are some of the larger milestones, but much of my work happens between them: improving existing features, introducing automation, simplifying workflows and solving the operational problems that emerge as products evolve. You can explore more of this work in the Case Studies and Blog sections.

Current Projects

This is a snapshot of the work I'm currently delivering across a range of clients, products and settings.

In progress

HERBIE: AI Support Assistant for BAFTA View

Designing and prototyping a contextual AI support assistant for BAFTA View, combining product knowledge, page context and escalation workflows. The current work is focused on refining its behaviour, knowledge and security ahead of a controlled pilot.

In progress

Project Diamond: UAT for Creative Diversity Network

Leading UAT for the next generation of CDN's diversity-data platform, coordinating testing across broadcasters, suppliers and technical partners. I'm also designing a lightweight automated feedback process to capture, classify and route issues through testing, triage and retesting.

Working on a product or workflow that needs to work better?

Whether the problem is an existing platform, a manual process, disconnected systems or an idea for automation or AI, I can help work out the right approach and take it into delivery.
